Mapping Game Theories to Games

The following is a partial list of games for learning and the kinds of they theories embody. Given that many games are not designed with learning or instructional theories in mind, this list is presented for your consideration and not as a fait accompli.

Game: T.I.M. (The incredible machine). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Incredible_Machine_(series) Year: 1993, 1995, 2000, 2013 (Contraption Maker) Scenario: Create a series of Rube Goldberg devices to solve various puzzles. Learning Theory: constructionism Instructional Theory: constructivist learning environments

TO DO

Here's one that is based on “guided discovery” and “social learning theory” - Sokikom - https://www.edsurge.com/sokikom (I found the learning theories described on edsurge but not on the Sokikom website) Couldn't find anything specific written about these on the website but worth a quick search in the literature - Lure of the Labyrinth, Ko's Journey, and the Cyberchase games from PBS.
