Citing Video Games

The formal guidelines for citing videogames still don't seem to be settled and organizations like the APA.

Here's one suggestion: Use the “Software” citation type, choose “Electronic Media” as the publication medium, and then replace the “Media type” with a description of the console (e.g., “Xbox 360”) – for example:

• Kinect Star Wars [Xbox 360]. (2012). San Francisco, CA: LucasArts.

My suggestion is to include the following:

• Developer unless principal author is acknowledged. (year). Title (version #, if relevant) [gameformat]. Place of publication: Publisher.
